Abstract
The Prime Minister Mudra
Yojana (PMMY), initiated in April 2015, stands as a pivotal milestone in
India's quest for financial inclusion. This flagship program was conceived with
the noble objective of extending the reach of credit to the often marginalized
but inherently entrepreneurial micro and small-scale entrepreneurs. In this
comprehensive review, we undertake a critical evaluation of PMMY, dissecting
its core objectives, dissecting its core objectives, scrutinizing the nuances
of its implementation, and dissecting the multifaceted impact it has etched on
India's economic landscape. We do so through a rigorous examination of
empirical data and compelling case studies, aspiring to provide a profound and
holistic assessment of the program's effectiveness, while also candidly
addressing the inherent challenges it faces on its journey towards fostering
economic development, job creation, and financial inclusion in the diverse and
dynamic Indian context.
