Abstract
The banking sector plays a crucial role in
promoting economic growth and development of any country. In India, the state
of Bihar has been recognized as one of the most underdeveloped regions with low
levels of financial inclusion. This is primarily due to the lack of modern
banking infrastructure in the state. To address this issue, various government
policies have been implemented to boost the banking infrastructure in Bihar.
The aim of this study is to analyse these policies and their impact on
improving financial services and increasing access to credit for individuals
and businesses in Bihar. The study will adopt a qualitative approach by
analysing relevant data from government reports, academic literature, and
interviews with key stakeholders such as bank officials and policymakers. The
findings will shed light on the current status of banking infrastructure in
Bihar, identify existing challenges faced by banks operating in the state, and
evaluate how effective government policies have been in addressing these
challenges. Furthermore, this study will also explore potential solutions that
can further strengthen banking infrastructure in Bihar such as increased
support for digitalization efforts, incentivizing private investments,
enhancing financial literacy among rural populations etc.
