Abstract
The main objective of this study is to determine the factors affecting
the choices of depositors in selecting banks for their deposits in Bangladesh.
The study surveyed 300 respondents which are selected from the sample
commercial banks. The survey took place in Dhaka and Kushtia cities. The result
of the study has been assessed based on the likert scale of 5 points, where, 1
for Strongly Agree, 2 for Agree, 3 for Neutral, 4 for Disagree, and 5 for
Strongly Disagree. The results of the study unearth that the safety of funds,
secured transaction process, online banking facilities, and prompt service have
significant positive influence, whereas political instability, high inflation
rate, and high transaction costs have significant negative influence on the
choice of depositors to select their desired banks in Bangladesh. The result of
the study will surely be useful to policy makers and supervisory authorities of
banks to formulate their policies so as to improve the performance of banks in
Bangladesh.
